Wood-Fired Dining at Hedge Row

Cherry creek’s dining scene is vast but when I crave comfort, I head to hedge row american bistro for wood-fired dining at its finest. They prioritize responsibly-sourced ingredients (which I love) + their beautiful dining space is as inviting as they come.

Design + Palette

Hedge row american bistro is one of the dining option from The Kitchen restaurant group. Their sun-drenched bar has a mid-century design, mixed with materials like steel, concrete, glass + wood. I love the subdued grey palette which is then dotted with green accents + graphic artwork.

It is the ideal spot to sip a craft cocktail or a glass of wine on a leisurely afternoon. Hedge row’s open kitchen, bridges the bar to the expansive dining room. It  is filled with texture, warmth + beautiful details like handwoven pillows.

The dining space, in hues of rust, tangerine + slate grey, provide a juxtaposition of warmth + sleekness. Yet its design feels insanely inviting. However, my favorite element would be the aroma of the wood-burning oven, only steps away.

Food sustainability means a lot to me. I care where my food comes from + I try to eat seasonally to reduce my carbon footprint. Similarly, hedge row prioritizes responsibility when sourcing ingredients. So, we are like kindred spirits that were meant to come together. Lucky me!

Seasonal Wood-Fired Dining

And speaking of food… hedge row is real good. I have dined here multiple times this year, eating my way through their vegetable-forward, seasonal + texturally-rich menu.

Recently, I joined my friend ana (a fellow blogger + food-enthusiast from rosemary + rye) for dinner. We had the pleasure of dining on some of the restaurant’s most photogenic + delicious offerings. Here is a little recap…

Obsessed is an understatement on my feelings for the curried vegetable + brown rice bowl. It is filled with tender veggies, golden raisins, toasted almonds + a cilantro-mint chutney that I could eat by the spoonful. Diners can add a protein to this dish but it is hearty + filling all on its own.

Additionally, all visits should include an order of the crispy fish lettuce ‘tacos’. Tempura rockfish is layered between crisp bibb lettuce with pickled red onion, radish + a smoked chili tartar. It is a light but insanely flavorful bite to kick off any meal.

Another fav would be the instagram-worthy, whole roasted fish. Get your appetite (and camera) ready for a beautifully roasted fish atop a sungold tomato vinaigrette, toasted almonds, lime + coriander-chili salt. To round out this dish, order a side of creamy grits or hand-cut fries.

We tried the grilled corn at our meal but I would pass on this dish next time. Instead, I would opt for one of the many veggie-forward sides that highlight the wood oven like the roasted carrots. Comforting dishes cooked by wood fire screams fall + makes me excited for my next visit back.

End Your Meal on a Sweet Note

Of course, no meal is complete without dessert. Hedge row’s dessert menu has something for everyone. The summer berry mess with raspberry sorbet, crips meringue + mint is the perfect light finish to your meal.

However, if you want something a bit more indulgent, please order the sticky toffee pudding. Warm, bourbon-pecan caramel, gooey pudding + melty vanilla ice cream comes together in pure decadence. No joke, I could have eating the entire dessert all on my own!

My Favorite Dish on the Menu

Oh, I forgot to tell you about the heirloom tomato + melon salad. I am salivating just looking at the below photo… insanely delicious is an understatement! It is another ‘must order’ but hurry to try because it will be leaving the menu next wednesday.

Soon we will get to enjoy caramelized brussels sprouts + turnips with a ham hock vinaigrette. What say what? Yep, that’s right… ham hock vinaigrette! I also cannot wait to try their new roasted beets + pistachio salad with homemade labne, dill + orange vinaigrette! Fall ingredients in all their glory!

Hedge row is like a warm hug in the bustling dining scene of cherry creek north. They have uniquely carved out an identity that feels welcoming, ethically-responsible + seasonally driven. I hope you book a table at hedge row very soon + enjoy a delicious meal in their stunning dining space.
