Floating in a giant pool of salt water while alone with my thoughts was my first step in self care in 2018. Plus a GIVEAWAY… more at the bottom of this post!

As part of my 2018 goals, I am prioritizing self care more than ever. I want to pull myself away from the day-to-day to do things that are good for my mind, body + spirit. Recently, INNGI float (pronounced in-gee) invited to me try out a float session at their highlands ranch location. I had heard about floating in the past but knew very little about its benefits. My curiosity was peaked so, I said yes and booked my first float session shortly after the holiday.

Floating is designed as a total relaxation of body + mind, while also alleviating pain through weightlessness. Not only can floating relieve stress, it promotes anti-aging, decreases inflammation, increases energy + recovery of sore muscles. So, what does floating truly entail?

Every room at INNGI float has a futuristic private pod that looks straight out of syfy movie. The pods are filled with about 10 inches of pharmaceutical-grade epsom salt which allows the body to float weightlessly. You can choose to have the lights on or off + what type of relaxing music you would like played. I opted for total darkness + no sound to truly experience what floating was all about. I was like a little leaf on top of a pond, serene + bound by nothing. Alone with my thoughts, without any outside influence took some time to get used to. Eventually I was able to relax my mind + ‘just be’ but it did take a while to really embrace it.

Overall, I really enjoyed the experience. While I wished the water was a bit warmer, floating felt like an indulgent mental + physical break. Rarely do I take time to be 100% alone, so a few hours away from my day-to-day was a treat. Sipping hot tea, floating weightlessly + relaxing was a great way to reset the system after the chaos of the holidays.

Do you want to try floating too? INNGI Float + I are giving away free float session to 1 lucky winner over on my instagram account. Head on over now!!!
