Our annual trip to the denver stock show was made extra special by making it a family affair.
I only started attending the stock show after cohen was born. Honestly, I didn’t really understand how much fun it was or why it was such a popular event come january every year. However, it is a great time. I love seeing all the animals, drinking a couple beers + experiencing one of the oldest traditions in the city. Now, with cohen a bit older + gaining interest in animals, I was even more excited to bring him back.
Luckily for us, everyone’s schedules aligned for ryan’s whole family to join us this year. Adults were sipping drinks, kids were running about + I think all of us had smiles on our faces. It was chaotic, hilarious, exhausting + insanely entertaining. Cohen is obsessed with his cousins + follows them around with endless admiration. Likewise, the girls are so helpful with blake. They love carrying her around + making her smile.
A highlight for me was seeing the kids in the petting zoo. While I do have mixed feelings about caged animals, it did fill my heart with so much happiness to experience cohen interacting with the animals. There are very few opportunities for him to be face-to-face with live animals in our everyday lives so… I guess I can see the positives. Likewise, he learned all about the stock show + animals at school over the last couple of weeks.
I cannot wait for my babes to get a bit older so we can stay to see a live rodeo and also walk around the grounds. Hopefully that will be soon + will include the whole family too.
