An overnight trip to Boulder was just what our family needed.
After a very busy last couple of weeks, our family was craving some quality time together. Ryan has been working late, the kids schedules have been a bit erratic + I have been running on coffee + fumes.
Where we stayed
We booked a room at our go-to, the
45 minutes after we backed out of our driveway, we were pulling into the hotel. Typically ryan + I make an annual weekend getaway to boulder for some much needed R&R but I was just as excited to experience it with our kids in tow.
Cohen was pumped that he got to push the elevator button every time we came + went from our room… which was a lot. Between our trips to walk up + down pearl street, meals out + exploring the hotel, we were on the move constantly.
Eat, drink, play… repeat
We also had some delicious turmeric lattes at wonder + the best vegan ice cream at
Our little swimmers
Oh and the swimming… a double thumbs up if you ask me. The pool felt like an extra warm bath that didn’t make you shiver upon entering. Most pools are a bit too cool for my little girl but this one was perfection. We made multiple trips to the pool so the kids could swim + play. It was by far the best activity + also wore them out.
The weather was unseasonably warm during our stay. Almost every patio in town was filled with people sipping drinks + eating out. We opted to dine indoors but we did take full advantage of the beautiful temperatures by playing outside.
Traveling with kids is all about perspective
Our family has truly learned to love hotel travel. Over the past 18 months, we have been on a few trips with them & each one keeps getting better than the next.
The kids see everything as an adventure. Even just a trip up an unknown elevator or hanging out in the lobby can be insanely entertaining. Everything is new & somehow extra special because it is not part of their everyday.
I have found that if I slow down & turn off my over-planning brain, it is best for all of us too. We are more present, enjoy the moment & don’t feel like we are missing out on anything.
As usual, we cannot wait to go back to
