And just like that, I am celebrating my 34th birthday. Here are a few thoughts on the subject…

I have always loved my birthday. My family has notoriously made birthdays a big deal which is probably why I anticipate mine with so much excitement. Just like when I was a little girl, I have high hopes on how the festivities will unfold. Luckily, ryan has always known this about me . He too, has gone out of his way to make october 11th a grand affair. ‘Birthday weekend’ has become a notorious term I throw around in the month of october. I should probably put it to bed already but I cannot help myself. I love celebrating life… and life is pretty good!

Honestly, I just realized the other day that I have spent nearly 1/2 my life now, celebrating with ryan by my side. In years past he has planned elaborate surprise parties + traveling dining affairs… stopping into some of my most favorite restaurants around denver with our friends by our side. We have jet-setted to chicago for a long weekend + had indulgent meals with some of our bestest of friends.

Yet, something about this year has me feeling a bit different.

Maybe it is the season of my life or that I am on the tail-end of a weekend getaway but my celebratory spirit is not as heightened as previous years. How unlike me but yet, it feels right.

So, as I say hello to 34, I am also welcoming the year ahead with open arms. I am ready to embrace my ‘mid thirties!!!!’ and all that they will bring. Happy birthday to me!

I still remember the 6 lb 3 oz little baby girl that brightened our lives 34 years ago today – even the car accident (other guy’s fault) when we were on our way to the hospital. Your birth is certainly a highlight of my life and now my little princess is an intelligent, beautiful woman who has endeared herself to so many. With absolute pride, I say . . . .

    Happy Birthday!!
