I love pizza night but I always feel a bit disappointed with the greasy + uninspired toppings from most delivery chains. Growing up, my dad started making pizza at home instead of ordering out. I loved the flavor + chewiness of a homemade crust and getting to pick your toppings was perfection in my book. However, it was a labor of love to make homemade dough. Unfortunately, turning pizza night into an event that was reserved for weekends only.

Recently, I teamed up with the incredibly talented, rachel from the fond life to make some killer homemade pizzas. She tracked down a pizza dough recipe that takes only 20 minutes to rise, a game changer in my book. Now, I can easily make a homemade pizza any night of the week, in no time at all. And, my secret ingredient… cooking my pies outside on the grill.

Yep you read that correctly, grilling your pizza is amazing! A hot grill + a pizza stone is a sure-fire way to get a nice crispy crust with a subtle char that is full of flavor. Pizza stones work great in an oven or over an open flame because they eliminate hot spots. While your pizza dough is rising, turn on your grill to med-high + then get out your toppings of choice. Once you roll out your dough, use a pizza peel sprinkled with corn meal to transfer onto the hot pizza stone. 10-12 minutes later, depending on the thickness of your dough + the number of toppings, you will have a killer pizza to slice up + devour.

Rachel + I created 3 pizza recipes to share with you today. Each one tastes as good as they look. I am seriously salivating as I am typing this up. I personally love when a pizza has a bit of spice, a creamy/gooey element + an unexpected ingredient. Maybe that’s why all 3 of these pizza are so damn tasty.
