Girls Trip // Amigo Motor Lodge

A few of my favorite amigos joined me for an overnight stay at one of the most photogenic properties I’ve ever been too. Here is a recap of our visit to the amigo motor lodge.

Nestled just outside of downtown salida, co is the amigo motor lodge. This 1950’s motel was renovated + given a serious update, full of personality, back in 2016. Owners katlin + philip renovated this historic property + filled it with minimalistic design. The amigo is now boasting with character, comfort + creative details.

I was itching to go check out the amigo for some time. So, when I proposed the idea to my best girlfriends in joining me for an overnight stay, I was elated that they all said ‘yes’ immediately. Surprisingly, in all the years of friendship, we had never gone on a trip all together. One more reason that our getaway meant so much to me.

Our time in salida was near perfection. It was as if the stars aligned just for us to have an amazing getaway together. The weather was beautiful, the company was perfection + the amigo was about as charming as they come. The rooms, all slightly different in design, are simple but full of tongue-n-cheek notes in beautiful typography. All the lighting is structural + modern which compliments the cozy tuft + needle mattresses and soft bedding. One of the many reasons we spent the majority of our stay piled into one room laughing + drinking the hours away.

In the morning, we lounged in the communal sunroom, sipping huckleberry roasters coffee + laughing until near tears. And of course, we had to take advantage of the many photogenic spots on the amigo’s property for a few snaps.

We did explore charming salida because the weather was begging for us to stroll in its warm sun. This artist town has so many great shops. I would recommend stopping into howl mercantilefaye & mayedrift & amble  + honey boutique. If you are in the mood for some eats, we loved amicas for pizza, currents for breakfast + any of the spots along the river for a drink on the patio.

This trip was insanely special to me. The uninterrupted time with my closest girlfriends was priceless. For all of us to unplug from our kids, jobs + day-to-day, to go away together meant so much to me. Then, to stay at such a cool place was just icing on the cake. I cannot wait to travel back to salida for another getaway soon. And, I can promise you, we will be staying at the amigo.
