Want to know a winning combination? Girlfriends + great meal! Throw in a couple glasses of wine + I can guarantee you an evening of connection + meaningful conversation.
Grateful for Girlfriends
As a momma who wears many hats every day, I live for a good girls night out. They always leave me feeling recharged + grateful. Hopefully I am not the only one!
Through the world of blogging, I have met some amazing blogger babes who have filled my life with inspiration, authenticity + an overload of beautiful stories. Just in time to kick off the holiday season, we got together for a girls night out at the kitchen denver.
When you get a chance to not be a ‘human jungle gym’ for an evening… you go all out! Lucky for us, ana from rosemary + rye was able to capture our evening too.
Dining Space Design
The kitchen denver has a huge main dining space with a large bar, exposed pipes + cement beams. Natural light pours in through the expansive wall of windows + bounces off the many glass + metallic accents throughout the room. The subdued color palette of cornflower blue, grey + white sets the stage for the focus to be on the food.
Just off the main dining space is a short run of stairs, leading to the semi-open kitchen + chef’s room. The exposed brick + stunning hunter green pendant lights, makes for an intimate but energetic dining space.
If you are looking to host a large party or cocktail reception, the kitchen denver has you covered too. There is an additional private wine room which can host up to 65 guests. A downtown location that has so much space is hard to come by.
One more reason the kitchen has been a staple in the denver dining scene since 2012.
Real American Bistro Fare
Now let’s talk food! Us ladies brought our appetites + we could not be more grateful that the kitchen denver delivered. We decided to share a few of the small plate options + a few sides from their dinner menu.
I loved the light + refreshing tuna ceviche. It had granny smith apples, serrano chile, cilantro + a coconut-lime vinaigrette. The balance of heat, sweet + acid really made the entire dish sing.
Another favorite was the roasted beets, pistachios + homemade labne. This dish screamed seasonal freshness with bright dill + an orange vinaigrette atop the beautifully roasted beets. No surprise, this dish was quickly devoured.
The ‘almost too beautiful to eat’ roasted carrots were another, must order. A rainbow of colorful carrots were topped with fruition farms ricotta + an earthy dill germolata. So stunning + insanely delicious.
Similarly, the charred chinese broccoli got us ladies gasping when served to our table. It was a gorgeous plate of vibrant colors + textures. However, the broccoli spears tasted + looked more like asparagus. Not a bad thing but a bit surprising.
We decided to also order the new york strip steak to add a bit of protein to our meal. The portion was perfect for sharing + included more of the colorful roasted carrots. I found the dijon-demi glace to really tie the dish together.
Of course, any good girls night includes some fun. We celebrated natalie’s recent engagement, shared some ‘blogging wins’ + swapped stories about our children. Having girlfriends who can relate to you on so many levels is a true blessing.
The evening wrapped up with dessert + (more) drinks. I left the kitchen with a full belly + a warm heart. I could not recommend the kitchen denver enough + thank them again for their amazing hospitality.
