From the moment we found out we were having a baby, I started imaging what a future nursery would look like. I knew I wanted a space that felt welcoming + warm but I did not want its aesthetic to feel like a diversion from the rest of our home. Neutrals, classic pieces, a bit of whimsy and a space that would grow with him… that was my goal.
It feels like almost a year ago now that I posted my inspiration board for cohen’s room but I am so excited to finally reveal it here on the blog.
(the view from his doorway)
(cohen’s crib – madeup with neutral grey bedding and then a antique galvanized ‘c’ from etsy)
(my favorite element to cohen’s room… his 6′ tall canvas teepee. we also added some floating white shelves to display some of the gifts he has received)
I love how everything came together; a mix of navy, grey + white with a nod to nautical. The crib we were gifted was the starting point to the room and set the stage for the other pieces we added. A classic navy dresser which works perfectly as his changing table, simple floating shelves and of course, the coolest addition… a 6′ tall teepee that is completely impractical but will hopefully be used for playing, reading and hide-n-seek in the years ahead. Cohen’s room is on the smaller side so I chose to forgo the rocker/glider in his room and instead put one in our living room which is only a few feet away. I am still searching for the ideal rug, as the one in there currently is kilim, not the softest fabric for a soon-to-be crawling little boy but I am fine with it until cohen becomes mobile.
(canvas, wood + rope… the essentials to assemble a teepee)
(I used some of the nautical bunting from my baby shower to adorn cohen’s teepee)
(a classic dresser in a deep navy is our make-shift changing table. below are wicker bins to organize + corral his toys)
The fabulous maribeth ley from maribeth photography came over to photograph cohen’s room and I cannot say enough about how much I love her work. She shot cohen’s newborn photos (you can see a couple of them here and here) and also his 6 month photos which I hope to share with you next week. She is ultra professional, makes you feel relaxed in front of the camera and was ultra patient + sweet with cohen… even when he peed all over me twice during his newborn photo shoot!
