At such a troubling + heartbreaking time in our country, there are so many mixed emotions about our upcoming vacation to las vegas.
Just days after the deadliest mass shooting in modern us history, my emotions are still not settled. It is hard to believe that someone could be so sick + destructive; affecting the lives of so many, in a rippling effect from las vegas outward across the entire country. It is saddening, maddening + heartbreaking, all at the same time. I don’t understand how people can be so hurtful. I also cannot wrap my brain around how or why someone inflicted pain onto lives they’ve never touched or met. Moreover, ryan + I are leaving for a much-needed vacation in just a few days to this very destination.
It’s hard to feel like there is something wrong about getting on a plane to vegas for a few days sans-kids, work or day-to-day stuff to bask in the dessert sun when this city just went through something so unexplainably horrible, just days before. It’s not wrong to want this vacation to be a happy memory but it feels jaded before its begun. Ryan + I have been talking for months about needing a vacation. We decided a quick getaway to vegas would be perfect. A bit of sun, sand, cocktails by the pool + some excitement. However, vegas is more than pretty lights + parties. We were sadly reminded of this truth, early monday morning. Our hope is to truly enjoy these next few days but I also know that our heavy hearts + mixed emotions will be with us the entire time.
Our hearts are with those affected by this disgusting act of terrorism. #vegasstrong
