I cannot believe I am already writing cohen’s 11 month update. Where did the last year go? I look at my growing, healthy, curious and happy boy in complete awe. He is looking more + more like a toddler, and less like the little fragile baby I brought home from the hospital nearly a year ago now.
From the moment he wakes up, he is scooting, singing, babbling, pulling himself up onto everything, driving cars + trucks across every surface he can reach, exploring and non-stop laughing + smiling. Yes, there are the occasional tears after a fall or bump but for the most part, he is a happy boy. However, please note, cohen does not like to sit still. He gets a bit upset when he is forced to lay still for more than :10 to get a diaper change. Often times diaper changes turn into ‘naked baby on the loose’ chases around the house. They are full of laughter but also, a bit of frustration on my part.
One of the biggest milestones over the past month has been cohen’s extreme interest in climbing + traversing. We installed invisible locks on our kitchen cabinets to keep him out. Yet, cohen now uses our cabinetry hardware to pull + shake from. He also will transition from hanging on the baby gate in our kitchen, to the opposing cabinetry like a monkey. Additionally, he can now successfully climb up all 11 of our stairs from the basement. I am still trying to convince myself this is a ‘milestone’ and not a ‘hazardous interest’ though.
In just a few weeks cohen will be u-n-o and I am already planning a small soiree for him. It seems a bit trivial as he will never remember it. Yet, I want to make his first year a true celebration to look back on. More to come on this front very soon!
