Hello there monday! I am feeling good today and ready to tackle the week ahead. Our weekend included an early morning breakfast outing, a little baking on sunday + a couple d.i.y. projects at my parent’s new house. Oh and great weekend like this past one would not be complete without some serious quality time with cohen.
What do families do in the 7 to 8 o’clock hour on a saturday morning? Well, they head to their neighborhood breakfast joint to drink copious cups of coffee + entertain their kids with pancakes. We were up early on saturday so, we decided to venture out to maddie’s. Moments after walking in, we saw that almost every table was filled with parents + small children. Most of the parents were still rubbing the sleepies out of their eyes as the kids were energized + ready to go. I wonder if our little table of 3 looked the same way?!?!
My parents recently bought a new house and before moving day, they wanted to tackle a couple ‘quick’ projects. We stopped by on saturday so ryan could help my dad install a new bathroom vanity + mirror. 6 hours later and some dabbling in both electrical work + plumbing issues, the install was nearly complete. Oh and 2 trips to the hardware store for unplanned materials. Everyone was losing energy so we all decided to throw in the towel around 4pm + finish up on sunday. Cohen took a much-needed nap while ryan + I enjoyed some vegging out on the couch followed by takeout.
Gratefully, sunday’s work was a breeze + everything was completed in just over an hour. Likewise, while I joke about the monotony and endless problem-solving that occurred on saturday, I do think ryan + my dad really enjoyed figuring out all the issues together and seeing the project through. Their new house is going to be great and I cannot wait to see them settled in soon.
Earlier in the week, I was craving desserts so, I bought all the ingredients for a blood-orange ricotta cake that I saw on the blog, climbing grier mountain. I didn’t want my citrus to go bad so I decided to try my hand at the recipe on sunday morning. While I am the last thing from a baker, I was quite impresses with the final product. We ate cake for breakfast with a side of coffee + watched cartoons with cohen. A lazy saturday which was just what we needed.
Tomorrow is the big v-day. Hope everyone has their plans made + love notes written!
