I love attainable street style. It is my favorite form of fashion + what I gravitate towards when looking for fashion trends or styling ideas. Furthermore, I am fascinated by live art + the ability to take high-end artwork and incorporate it into everyday life. Most of us will never be able to afford original artwork from professional artists. So, being able to buy a replica or seeing a rendition in a pubic setting is as close as we will ever get.
Recently I was scrolling through my instagram feed and saw this j.crew’s post. It featured these beautiful floral brushstrokes from artist michael de feo. Immediately, I loved the fluidity in the image and how light his art felt. So, I clicked through to j.crew’s blog for more information. Upon further searching, I learned more about this incredible artist. He has been creating street art all over the world for the past 25 years. Moreover, his artwork is created on fashion ads and artwork, taking a beautifully-shot image and transforming it with his soft and whimsical style.
What started as de feo making street art out of a j.crew bus advertisement (see above), quickly turned into a wearable art collaboration. My infinity for art + fashion in an attainable way is now available through a line that j.crew produced, featuring the artwork of de feo. You could easily take any of these shirts and style them in an array of ways from edgy to dressy + even appropriate for the office. Make a statement + take the opportunity to incorporate art into your everyday style. Here is how I would style my favorite de feo shirt, currently available at j.crew.
