Capturing our little girl and our family of four, just 2 weeks after her arrival.
I am still in complete awe of my precious blake … and she is just over a month old. Her long skinny arms + legs look just like cohen’s did when he was first born. However, her eyes have a clear, deep blue color that makes me hopeful that they might resemble mine. I would love a little blue eyed angel but if they turn dark brown like both ryan + cohen, I know they will be just as beautiful. She has a full head of hair that I love to adorn with headbands. Blake has been quite the dream baby too, sleeping for 3-4 hour stretches in the day time and nearly 4-5 hours straight at night. Oh and she is a little piglet too. Sometimes I wonder if she is a bottomless pit with her vivacious appetite.
The last few weeks have been a whirl-win though. In between cuddles + sweet baby bonding, there’s also diaper changes for 2. Along with the learning curve of feeding 2 kids, keeping both of them happy + cared for while also adapting to a new nighttime routine. While there has been a little less sleep + a lot more work there is so much to be grateful for.
I don’t think anyone can prepare for how a child will affect your family dynamic. Regardless if it is your first child or your fifth, there are changes to your ‘normal’. Cohen has been excited, helpful + interested in blake since meeting her at the hospital for the first time. Likewise, ryan + I have been very conscious about giving him our attention everyday. Regardless if we’re reading a book together or having a tickle fight on the couch, we are making sure he is getting quality time with both of us.
The talented jenna sparks took these photos when blake was 2 weeks old. I could not be more thankful that she captured our family so beautifully at this moment in our lives. Looking at cohen’s smile and seeing the happiness (mixed with a bit of exhaustion) on ryan + I’s faces just makes my heart full.
