This past weekend felt like it went by at lighting speed. From the moment I got off work, I don’t think I had more than a couple of hours of down-time. Instead, the remainder of the weekend was filled with festive activities like holiday parties, baby showers, a little volunteering + pre-christmas fun.
Ryan’s holiday party was on friday night so we busted out our cocktail attire + headed out for the evening. After tons of mingling, we managed to pop into the photo booth to take a couple quick snaps. My feet were killing me by the time we were walking to the car… a reminder to quit wearing my black patent pumps! The evening was really fun though and a great kickoff to a lot of holiday happenings in the next couple of weeks.
I was up with the birds on saturday morning to volunteer at united way’s annual holiday party. I joined a couple friends from work to help distribute coats to at-risk families in the denver-area. It was a long + emotional morning but such a rewarding experience to be part of. I truly want to serve my community more + giveback in a meaningful way. 2017 is going to include a lot more service on my part, I am committing to that now.
Once the event wrapped up, I headed straight to my girlfriend sara’s house to shower her + her baby on the way. The baby shower was darling and every detail was just perfect. We had so much fun opening gifts, snacking on yummy appetizers + catching up with great friends. 2 of my close girlfriends (both named sara!) are due only 10 days apart and to see them glowing in happiness is everything. I could not be more grateful for their friendship or more excited for their babies to arrive.
Saturday night we had planned to join my parents at the hudson garden’s holiday lights but a water-main break shut the entire event down. Instead we all headed to downtown littleton for dinner, followed by enjoying all the christmas lights lining the streets. Cohen has officially learned the word ‘tree’ so, he made sure to point out every light-filled tree the entire night. Another highlight included him seeing his very first horse-drawn carriage but I think he was more interested in the big wheels than the horse.
Our weekend wrapped up with running errands on sunday, a much-needed grocery store trip + a delicious dinner at home. I also somehow squeezed in 3 loads of laundry and baked homemade muffins with cohen. Again, it was a super busy weekend but looking back, it was filled with so much fun.
What did you accomplish this weekend?
